Loki decided to add a touch of his own magic to one, just for a playful prank. But his untamed magic latched on with surprising enthusiasm, and the apple began to swell, growing larger and larger.

The apple grew enormous, pulsating with an eerie green-yellow glow, siphoning life from everything around it. Idunn’s other golden apples withered, and the gods themselves began to feel older. Odin's beard looked whiter, Freya's eyes lost their sparkle, and Thor found his hammer felt heavy. Idunn cried out with great sadness upon seeing her withered orchard. Thor tried to smash the colossal fruit, but Mjolnir bounced off, and Freya's gentle magic was simply absorbed.

Alarmed, the gods convened in the great hall, each looking noticeably older than they had the previous morning. Odin, the All-Father, his single eye piercing, boomed, "Who has tampered with Idunn's sacred apples?" Loki, feeling a new wrinkle near his eye and an ache in his joints, realized the full seriousness of his prank. With a sheepish grimace, he mumbled, "It was a minor experiment, All-Father." Odin fixed him with a stare that could make anyone shiver, commanding, "Reverse it, Loki, or face the consequences of growing old too soon!"

Loki, genuinely worried, hurried back to the orchard, his fingers feeling strangely stiff. With a desperate surge of his dwindling magic, he managed to weave a complex counter-spell. The monstrous apple shuddered, its glow flickering, then began to shrink like a deflated balloon. It collapsed into a bruised, ordinary-looking apple. A wave of rejuvenating energy washed over Asgard, and the gods felt their vigor return! Idunn's orchard slowly began to revive. As punishment, Odin decreed Loki must guard the orchard for a month, eating only plain apples. For a while, Asgard enjoyed a peaceful, prank-free time.
